Family Provisional Farm Food

I am Edrisa Bah by name and I am from The Gambia in West Africa, it’s the smallest country in mainly land and well known as the smiling coast. I am living in a small village called Duwasu and our nearby town is called Brikama town it’s among the biggest towns in our country.
I’m living with my family; grandma, two little sisters and I was having a younger brother who was next to me but so unfortunate that we loss him this passed 16th January 2022, with chronicle illness (diabetes) he was suffering with it since 2015 but so unfortunate that he couldn’t get good treatment due to our poor background condition.
We happened to live under our grandma since we become an orphan and sadly loss our both parents in vehicle accident life has not been fair on us. I was a student by then but due to our poor family background life is been uneasy to get education to elevate my family condition and as breadwinner to my family and education become expensive at our doorstep and we live from hand to mouth to have day to day food, to settle our house rent and pay our little hospital bills too. Because what I do use to get from the labour work I do use to be very limited and does not use to sustain me and my family for our daily basic needs. I do fetch firewood in the bush sell it do domestic works, as it really use to break my heart to see what my family have to go through as we do use to go two to three days without good food to eat and do use to live on dry bread mix with water and sugar, its really unbearable.
Thus, I am content with the little I do have from my manpower work but also wish and hoping that better days are coming soon as goodness come from does who wait and I sometimes wander to when will the situation change as I weep in tears when I see the starving of my siblings that I cannot afford my basic needs/what’s asked for and as first child of the family and life’s such sticky each day on us.

Moreover, a basic necessity which can never be excluded in every single aspect of life affects me and my family and that necessity called food is the main aim I reach out to the world, Food and Agriculture  Organization of the United Nations classifies my country The Gambia as a food-deficit country. This means The Gambia does not produce enough food to meet its own needs and lacks the exconomic power to fill the gap by importing food.

Research over here  shows that malnutrition heightens the risk of mortality for both mothers and children. Nutrition contributes to 45 percent of child mortality all because of food deficiency. This gives me the aim to try set up this blog inoder to gain support from the outside world to embark on subsistence farming and good nutritional produce for we already have a family land in place for the farming activities we wish to embark on but we lack the support to start operations on the bare land. For we live within a country of poor economies where more that 40 percent of the population live on less than one dollar a day with the country’s poverty rate is at 48 percent, while food insecurity has risen from 5 to 8 percent within recent years as a result of weak food production systems and effects of successive shocks such as drought and floods.

All these factors sets up our aim to venture into farming as that will lucratively improve the food sustainability and nutrition values as a whole, below are samples of how lucrative it will look when this farming is embark on.

Food for sustainability is what we seek and pray for and we hope the good hearted souls around the world out there can help us pursue our goals for this farming activity.

I have seen people here searching support from the good people across the world and they’ve achieved their goals through the good hearts in the world, that’s why I also decided to take this opportunity to be here to look for a chance for me and my family so that we reach to our goals!
As we are having this great plan and I believe when we have the chance and access to support, we will surely reach to the goals and will be able to change the poor condition and provide food sustainability with this gardening project (family provisional farm food).
